I Have Good News to Tell You!
If you don’t have a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ, I’d like to take a minute to tell you how you can and how you can receive the gift of eternal life as a result!
Romans 3:23 tells us:
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”
That verse (and a quick look at the fallen world around us) tells us that we are all sinners. Our sin separates us from a Holy God, and there is a penalty for it:
“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” – Romans 6:23
Religion won’t pay that penalty – neither will good works.
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” – Ephesians 2:8-9
It is so great a debt that we ourselves could never repay it.
But don’t lose heart, this is where the Good News comes in!
Sin’s penalty was paid for us by God’s only begotten son, Jesus Christ. Being perfect and sinless Himself, He died in our place for our sins on an old wooden cross just over 2,000 years ago.
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” – Romans 5:8
Fortunately for us, the Good News doesn’t end there!
On the third day, He rose from the grave, gaining victory over sin and death for all those who will trust in Him.
“For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit.” – 1 Peter 3:18
To put your faith in Him means turning away from sin and trusting in His sacrifice as the Son of God for the forgiveness of your sins.
The following verses beautifully and perfectly portray the simplicity in Christ:
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” – Romans 10:9
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” – Romans 10:13
If you recognize you’re a sinner and want to be saved, all you need to do is put your faith in Jesus, and you shall be saved.
Now that’s Good News if I ever heard it 🙂
